Late Lala Jaganath Ji had a vision- a vision to bestow knowledge. He was a distinguished and a trusted mentor and thus began the journey of Lilawati Vidya Mandir, the English Medium School named after his mother Smt. Lilawati Ji.
Set up in 1974, Lilawati Vidya Mandir is indeed a ‘Vidya Mandir’ or an education pantheon. Education is not just about what you read in books, it is also the study of the world. Lala ji envisioned his School to be instrumental in building the children’s personality and grooming them as leaders.
Snug between serenity, Lilawati Vidya Mandir has a supreme syllabus. Be it extra-curricular activities, sports, seminars, workshops, yoga and meditation; all, make this a complete curriculum.
Lilawati Vidya Mandir has taken it upon itself to stay up to date with the need of the hour. Keeping a more contemporary outlook towards education the school knows that regular renovations, repairs and reformations to the infrastructural facilities are needed. With technology reigning supreme the school has introduced Language Lab making it the epitome of modernization.
Sports play an integral part in a child’s growing up years and here they get the best of facilities-be it for cricket, football, basketball, athletics, skating, TT or judo. Children can hone their creative skills further by joining music-vocal or instrumental; dance, debates etc; and further participate in the inter-house and inter-school competitions.
Nothing succeeds like success and LVM takes it upon itself to keep it that way. What with the Delhi State Teachers’ Awardee Mrs. Sushma Khurana on board as their Principal, it comes as little surprise to many, that LVM has set the standards like only it can. A former Asst. Teacher of this School, her services are unmatched. It was her sheer brilliance as a teacher, a learner and a committed administrator that made the Management put their faith in her by appointing her the School Principal in 1995.
Her sky-high credentials have also given Lilawati Vidya Mandir an edge in educational excellence. Her personal adroitness has rubbed off on the School, glorifying its accomplishment.
She feels that, “It has been an era of accomplishments and honor for Lilawati Vidya Mandir. Be itacademic, curricular, infrastructural or teaching/learning enhancement, the school with its ever guiding and supportive Management, able staff and dedicated students has reached the pinnacle with all its zest.”
Every child has the right to education and knowledge. At LVM, even the underprivileged aretaken care of. It is with sheer will of humanity that the School Management nurtures these minds. With innumerable Community Service Programmes, Mrs. Sushma Khurana has ensured student participation.
Under the project “Education for All”, LVM has been declared one of the top ten schools of Distt North, by the Govt of Delhi. Not only that, the school also bears all expenses for the Vocational Training Centre for Women, opened at Old Birla Lane. LVM is also a Centre for the Pulse Polio Drive. Never one to gloat, the School donates blankets for the needy, every year. The School makes it a point that every student should be sensitive to the underprivileged by buying greeting cards from NGOs like Udyan. LVM is active and responsible in giving back to the society. It is definitely leading the way.
The school motto of “Satyam Shivam Sundaram” is motivation enough for the Lilawati Vidya Mandir family. True to their personal teaching, LVM believes that ‘TRUTH PREVAILS. TRUTH IS INFINITE, UNIVERSAL AND ETERNAL’ imbibes high morals and values in the children of the school.
Some of the other achievements:
- LVM was declared the ‘Eco Friendly School’ by Indian Institute of Ecology and Environment for outstanding contribution in the area of environmental education and development in 2013.
- LVM has been appreciated by the Engineering Watch School Summit 2013 for furthering Value Centricity, Future Readiness and Excellence in STEM Education.
- LVM was awarded the “Overall Championship Trophy-Cultural” for the academic year 2013- 14 by Directorate of Education, Govt. of NCT of Delhi.
LVM strives to make the campus of the school so holistic that the students and their parents don’t have to look anywhere else to get the best facilities. Keeping this in mind, the School is now introducing Day Boarding and In-School Lunch Facilities. Once a student enters LVM, he/she becomes the School’s priority. From the moment the students step into its school premises, till the moment they leave, the School takes every bit of their care into consideration. Parents can work with a free mind knowing that their children are taken care of- be it their education or their overall development through sports and other co-curricular activities.
Lilawati Vidya Mandir knows the importance of nutrition in a growing child and School’s Day Boarding Facilities also include the mid-day meal and lunch plan. With a qualified nutritionist on board along with a panel of 5 teachers keeping a check on these children, ‘home made food’ provided by the School can let the parents breathe easy. It also boasts of a dining hall that can accommodate up to a 100 students.
Indoor and Outdoor activities play a huge role in the overall standing of a student.

“Adding another feature to its cap is the beginning of the Day Boarding Facility for its students. Compressive and holistic education through developmental approach is the need of the hour. To bring about complete enrichment, it becomes imperative for a student to spend long hours in school.
A Day Boarding at school facilitates, good eating habits, healthier social adaptive skills and proves to be an oasis for nuclear families with working parents.
With this aim in mind we are introducing Day-Care facilities at LVM which would include an additional stay in school on working days, provision of nutritious meals and session for language and mental ability Khurana.
None of these extravagant details would matter if the pricing were not right. Keeping that in mind LVM has decided to put the safest and the most suitable price bracket for this.
